POWER UP Workshops for Parents Body Smart: 'Right from the Start'
Parents have so many questions regarding Sexual Health: "Is it okay for our daughter and her dad to bathe together? For how long? Is that your wee-wee or your penis? Your who-who or your vulva? Can I kiss you on the lips?" Tuesday, April 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Ladysmith Highschool - Sponsored by SD 68 Early Learning Program - FREE Tuesday, May 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sponsored by SD 69 DPAC - FREE (Focus on parents of students in Kindergarten to Grade 5) Body Smart: From Child to Teen Why Sexual Health Education Matters... Self-esteem, body image, how we relate to others and our overall identity are all intertwined with our sexuality. Despite the importance of sexuality in our lives, we are often uncomfortable talking about these issues. It doesn’t have to be this way! Kerri Isham, founder of POWER UP workshops, believes it's important to encourage daily dialogue regarding sexual health. With up-to-date information and the right tools, awkward conversations can be opportunities to develop open communication with your child/teen. These on-going conversations will support your child/teen in developing a strong sense of self and awareness around personal boundaries. This workshop will provide a FUN and RELAXED atmosphere where parents can increase their knowledge, motivation and skills to help young people achieve optimal sexual health. Thursday, March 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Student Teacher's at VIU |

"I would also like to thank you and the girls from your Girls Club for your excellent presentation last week. You are a very gifted speaker and were able to present a very serious topic with humour and sensitivity. My daughter, Caley and I have been able to discuss many of the issues you presented. Thank you for all of the time you have put into this and future workshops and presentations".
Kim Longmuir,
RDN Recreational Programmer, Lighthouse Country "That was a splendid evening at Springwood. I know that my whole family got something out of it. It promoted discussion about a variety of subjects. Thank-you so much for doing the work you are doing. It takes a lot of guts to do this. I know the kids are thrilled to have a safe place to speak their feelings. Keep up the good work."
Dorothy Morrison,
